Compare video conferencing software
With video conferencing software you can hold online meetings with colleagues, customers or clients, wherever everyone is. You schedule a meeting and send a link. Participants join with video and audio, in the browser or in an app. During the call you share your screen, chat and record the meeting. Businesses use such a video calling program for team meetings, job interviews and appointments with customers. Healthcare providers and municipalities use video calling for conversations with clients and residents.
Video meetings with your team or video calls with customers?
The first choice is who you mainly call. For video meetings with colleagues, many organisations choose a package that belongs to their office software, such as Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. There is also standalone online meeting software, such as Zoom Workplace, Webex and Whereby. If you mainly call customers or clients, there is software made for that. Vectera combines booking appointments with a meeting room in your own branding. WeSeeDo and FaceTalk have a digital waiting room for confidential conversations.
Do you want to decide for yourself where your data is stored? Then look at software that you put on your own server, such as Jitsi Meet, Nextcloud Talk or Pexip Secure Meetings.
What should you look out for?
- Participants and time limit: a free version often has a limit on the number of participants or the length of a meeting. See whether that suits your meetings.
- Joining as a guest: check whether guests can join via a link in the browser, or whether they need an account or a video calling app.
- Privacy and security: for secure video calling, look at where the servers are, whether conversations are encrypted and whether the supplier concludes a data processing agreement. That counts for extra in business video calling about confidential subjects.
- Features and integrations: think of recording, break-out rooms, a whiteboard, automatic minutes and an integration with your calendar or CRM.
